My Students

Developmental kindergarten is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are learning to imitate sounds or hold a paintbrush or sound out words. Our group loves to play outside, learn new games, and dance.

In this class, we build a community around what we have in common and our shared experiences.

Through our morning meeting time, we get to know one another and learn how to show empathy towards our peers. We are working on building our character, our social-emotional skills, and our intelligence through a developmentally appropriate kindergarten program.

My Project

In kindergarten fine motor development is so important. Most of my kids come to me lacking dexterity and stamina when using their fine motor skills. By allowing them opportunities to play with play-doh, they get to have fun while strengthening their skills.

In a year where learning centers are challenging, at best, Play-Doh has quickly become their favorite activity.

In order to keep the kids safe they need their own Play-Doh container. After 4 weeks of school, my students are already in need of a new container of Play-Doh and more activities to use the Play-Doh with. My students would love the dough mats.

In addition to the Play-Doh, I am asking for a counting set where students have to screw washers onto a bolt. This is a great alternative activity for my student who does not enjoy Play-Doh and it is easily sanitized.
