I teach 19 enthusiastic 4 year olds. They are eager to learn and try new things. They love hands on activities that creates learning as well as play. They attend a fabulous school in a high poverty area. Our school works hard to provide materials for these students, but due to budget cuts in public education this can be difficult to achieve. These kiddos deserve to have the best of everything even when the school is limited on funds for classrooms.
My Project
The use of fine motor activities daily will help my students build and develop the muscles in their fingers and hands to complete tasks they will need to become great writers. I will use the Building Fine Motor Skills Games, the Getting Ready to Write Gumball Game, and all other activities to build these crucial motor skills. Mastering fine motor skills are important for a student's independence and growth. Having good fine motor skills will allow my student to have better handwriting and prewriting skills. They will also become independent in opening packages and milk cartons on their own, which creates independence in students. These materials will also improve scissor cutting skills. Fine motor skills are performed daily so it is crucial to provide many different opportunities to strengthen their tiny hands.
