My students are the youngest learners in our public schools. They walk in my door for their first experience in the public school system. With a fun and energizing spirit, we strive to laugh and learn each day. We explore through books, writing, and lots of playing. They come from a wide range of backgrounds that allows us to share and learn culturally from each other.
Our school is very active in encouraging students to explore the world around them, from involvement in after-school sports to community service.
Our campus strives to create community and foster student growth outside the classroom. Students are given opportunities to participate in activities such as Battle of the Books, Science Fair, Oral Language, Student Council, Track Meet, SWAAT (Students with an Aptitude to Teach), Bank of America Speech Contest, and Student Valet.
My Project
My students in Transitional Kindergarten need lots of work to develop their fine motor skills for writing. As we venture into more writing during the school year, students need to have the muscle strength for holding their pencils to form the letters correctly. The best way to develop those muscles is through fine motor activities.
One of the most engaging ways to strengthen our hand muscles is by having LEGO's to work with each day.
This project will give my students the LEGO's they need to develop their muscles for writing while having fun playing with each other. We will be able to socialize, share and grow together.
