My students need these ceramic supplies to get our ceramics based art up and running. Our school is planning Fine Arts night and I would like EVERY child to have a ceramic piece to exhibit.
I am the art teacher! Everyone's favorite class of the week! My students love coming to my room to color, draw and paint! Oh, everyone loves paint day. I see about 500 students per week. I do my best to give them a great art education as well as producing beautiful pieces of art.
I have a LARGE diverse group of students.
Some have everything they have ever wanted and more...and other have nothing but the clothes on their backs. My classroom leaves these stigmas at the door. We are all artists despite our backgrounds, house size and bank account. Art is truly one of the only classes where all students can shine. Each child is able to create. Art is not a place where you have to be smart, popular, a good athlete or even good at math- art is for everyone! And this is why all students love coming to the art room. And why I am so blessed to be the art teacher.
My Project
We are the only elementary school in our district that has a kiln. We are so very fortunate. This year Lakewood Elementary will be having a Fine Arts Night for students, teachers and teachers. I would like each child to have a created piece out of clay and glazed to perfection for a school wide art exhibit on that night. Art is one of the places ALL students can shine and this is the perfect opportunity for students to show off their work. Each child will have a two dimensional work to show and a three dimensional work to show. This will highlight the importance of arts in the schools and keep students interested in their creations.
All students will shine on this night!
Not just the smart ones, athletic ones and popular ones. All students have the opportunity to shine in the art room. And this is the night to do it. The money funded will allow us to create, experience, and become familiar with the process of clay. Students will also become familiar with a gallery style exhibition and be a part of the set up/take down.
