Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Do you often wonder why you spent all those hours figuring out rise over run. Do your kids ask you often why do I even need to learn this math? Well the calculator based rangers help teach the concept of slope, distance, velocity, acceleration and more to students wondering when they need this.

My curious students are hardworking and dedicated.

They attend a school that not only has longer days, but a longer school year as well. They push themselves every day to succeed in academics and they live up to high behavioral expectations as well. Although they are not always perfect - they are always ready to learn new things and explore the world of math and science.

My Project

This AMAZING resource, a calculator based ranger, brings sometimes difficult-to-understand math concepts to life. It also helps with science problems such as velocity and acceleration. Students will be able to "walk" graphs and learn about positive and negative slopes by using their own body movements. Students will be able to determine the distance between velocity and acceleration. I learned about this tool in my grad school class years ago and have been dying to bring slope to the real world for my students the same way it was brought to me in that class!

With your donation you will not only make mathematics more meaningful to my students, but you will also be showing them that people do care.

I often empower my kids to speak up and ask for the things they need and when people give to them - no matter how big or small - they realize that people really do care and are willing to provide them with the education they deserve!
