My Project
My students love to read and listen to stories. I would like to provide them with more books that explore math, numbers, shapes and patterns. Stories are a wonderful way to incorporate many of these concepts into the lives of young children.
Literature can provide young children with the foundational stills to build their mathematical thinking and understanding!
Stories such as "Dozens of Dachshunds" by Stephanie Calmenson help children count up to 12 and understand a dozen as a unit. "Two Dogs on a Trike" by Gabi Snyder shows a growing group of dogs on different forms of transportation. Children will be able to create strategies to figure out how many overlapping dogs there are. This grant will help provide my students with zany and playful ways to learn about math!
