Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my classroom are very smart and curious children. Their minds are open to new and exciting challenges. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am happy to provide new and exciting learning techniques and methods to teach them. My students come to school each day wanting me to provide them with many opportunities to grow as young mathematicians, readers, writers, artists, and scientists. With my help and guidance they will be able to keep growing as students, as employees, and as well-rounded, happy successful people.
My Project
Young readers are not only learning to read but are creating lifelong memories through books. Nothing compares to reading a good book. Opening a good book, taking the time to relax and escape into it will always be an enjoyable time. Keeping them easy to see and reach can ensure that children enjoy reading more often. A great book storage and display system makes reading time more productive and enjoyable.
Displaying books adds to the decor of a classroom, but – more importantly – it also makes them easy for young readers to see and for young readers to explore at reading time.
In my classroom, I have accumulated a very large collection of well-loved books. The larger the collection of books, the harder it is to keep organized and for the student to find the just-right book.
Books are a loved necessity in a classroom, but they do take up a lot of space. There is always a need for a good book storage solution. The selected book racks will be organized by genre, reading levels, series, and by favorite authors. Since these racks of books will be on wheels, they will be able to travel to other parts of the classroom to prevent a crowd of readers in each other's way to locate their favorite or to possibly find their new favorite.
My classroom library is a well-loved place. These new book storage systems will make my classroom library as self-sufficient, student-friendly, and accessible to my young readers as possible. More importantly, it will help to foster and encourage a love of reading.
