My Project
Last year was the first year my school had a full-time School Counselor (me!) in several years. My students are compassionate, creative, and full of love, but they also come to school with diverse experiences and levels of trauma.
Timers, dry erase markers and erasers, storage bins, and Velcro will enable teachers at my Title I school to set up interactive Peace Corners for those times when students need to take a break from the class but cannot leave the classroom.
The more students are able to practice self-regulation, through Peace Corners, the more focused and engaged they are with classroom instruction. This leads to more learning, less classroom disruption, and lowers the likelihood a student might be pulled from class.
