it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My campus is a Title I school. Some students have a challenging home life. Many don't have money for school supplies or food. This year our students will have an additional challenge they haven't had in past school years. This year we will be at a middle school campus while our old school is being demolished and rebuilt. They will have the added stress of being bused and having to walk in rain while moving to parts of the campus.
I am asking for yoga mats, yoga blocks, and cushions, and water feature; so they can find their inner Zen.
I am asking for class set of umbrellas to keep them dry as they move about campus and printer ink.
To face these challenges next year I took summer training to become a certified yoga teacher. My student's parents can't afford a gym membership and some may never even have funds to take a yoga class. I wanted to give my students an opportunity to gain valuable skills for their own inner peace. I learned strategies to help identify emotions and calm them when necessary. I want to teach those strategies to my students so they can calm themselves from the negative things in their lives and dissipate their negative self talk about themselves.
My special needs students need color copies of notes and charts to help them learn the content being taught. I have classroom printer for those occasions.
