My Students

Having the opportunity to teach at the school that I was a teacher's assistant at for the last seven years is merely a dream. As I enter my eighth year in education and first year as a classroom teacher, I am beyond excited! I teach at a Title I, partial magnet school in North Carolina, where the students are introduced to the arts in addition to their academics. Working at a Title I school means that at least 75% of the student body is at the poverty level.

I love the fact that my students are curious about EVERYTHING!

They love making real world connections from the topics that we are exploring. If I could describe my students using four words, I would say:

curious- they question what they don't know, understand, and what they want to learn more about.

talkative- everyone has a voice.

active- learning while we move.

team building- working collaboratively together. Together Everyone Achieves More.

I am beyond excited to what the school year will bring us and thankful for the opportunity to watch my students GROW!

My Project

I have noticed when my students are given the opportunity to choose their seat they then make good choices about where they sit, which then allows them to be more actively engaged and complete more work tasks. The modular butterfly stools that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The modular butterfly stool will allow students to sit at desk/higher tables or together in a circle. The butterfly stools can be used in a number of configurations, such as small group setting or individually, while completing independent task. These will be beneficial for those students who need to move. They are the perfect seating option for improving concentration and focus.
