Students at BE come to school seeking a safe and engaging home away from home. Covid-19 has created upheaval in their lives and disrupted family structures and learning academically, socially and emotionally. Our school community is committed every day to improving kids' social awareness and teaching kindness and empathy. Students need emotion regulation skills in order to be ready to learn and to be a kind friend. The tools in this project include games, books and activities to learn and practice social skills. There are also sensory items that help students feel calm when stressed or anxious. We still see gaps in these skills and want the help our students have the best possible futures. We know they can be successful!
