My Students

My school is located in a rural area in Oklahoma. Most of our students come from low-income families. I will be the school counselor for the 2021/2022 school year and will work with 4th-6th grade students.

I try to help make sure that each student is taken care of and their social-emotional needs are met.

Our students suffer socially and emotionally. These students still show up to school every day despite the obstacles they go through at home. Their go-to place is here at school where they feel supported and cared for.

But I can't do it all by myself, and any help you are able to give is so very appreciated.

My Project

Working with three different grade levels increases the number of groups that can be offered. The candy makes them happy to see me. The games are for social skills and friendship skills and the other things are for relaxation techniques for them.

Social-emotional learning in small groups allows students to normalize feelings, express themselves and build trust, and learn from each other as much as the leader.

Often, I am left without materials in my counseling sessions that the students would enjoy while we are talking. These items allow my groups to function smoothly and remain organized as I increase the number of students I serve.
