This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Find evidence from the text," is something that I find someone asking my students to do constantly.
My students are first grade scholars at a magnet school in California.
They are hard working and enthusiastic. Although they are only six years old, they come to school ready to learn and I try to challenge them daily to reach their highest potential.
My Project
With the implementation of Common Core State Standards, there has been a stronger emphasis on finding evidence in the text. I try to present my students with various opportunities to practice this. Recently, I saw a video of students finding evidence in the text whole group on the rug with their teacher. It seemed like a great strategy for keeping first graders engaged and challenged. I'd like to prepare similar lessons for my students. The clipboards, markers, and printer ink, will help me prepare lessons for my students using real text and giving them an opportunity to interact with the text in close proximity to me.
I would really appreciate the resources described above so that I can provide my students with real experiences in the class that will be helpful to them in their future.
