This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school serves students in grades ETK-8. We are a Title I school from the inner-city public school and 100% of our students are on the federal free meal plan. Most of our students usually get dropped off and arrive at school at 7:30 AM and continue to stay at school until 6:00 PM. Our school is their home away from home
I work with energetic and motivated first and second graders who are eager to learn.
I would love to have the opportunity to create an environment that empowers all my students to reach their full potential as scholars and citizens of the 21st century.
My Project
The comfy seats will no doubt be an additional source of motivation and appeal to encourage my students to read more and read longer. This process will positively build reading stamina during independent reading time. My classroom doors are always opened after school and my students can continue to read at the library or check out 5 books of their choice to read during after school program or at school.
I know that the comfy seats will provide a new and exciting message to show my first and second graders that reading is important.
Having a newly created classroom library that has "good-fit" books for all students of various reading levels to read will be the system of this classroom library. All my students know their reading level and will be able to access the library with focus and select books of level and interest quickly. All they need is a quiet spot to delve into books, which these comfy seats will provide. So, please help me build long-life learners, one classroom at a time.
