My second graders are inquisitive and eager learners. With our school’s recent implementation of the new Treasures Reading Program, teachers are left to manage and teach from the curriculum’s abundant resources, ranging from leveled readers to computer animated software programs, and research projects in order to increase achievement levels while ensuring that all students must meet or exceed standards. Most of the students do not have access to a computer and/or internet in their home. Their only opportunity to interact with technology is at school. Due to budget cuts, there aren't enough funds to replace outdated computers. Besides the my personal laptop and one desktop, there are no other computers in the classroom for students to take advantage of the programs and software that is necessary for us to differential and address all students’ needs. The students are excited to further their computer literacy skills but are not able to do so.
