My students need Math supplies to learn about money, such as money games, flash cards, poster boards, and paints to expand their experience with finances in real life.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Larsen's classroom raised $566

My Students
My students have little experience with spending and buying in the real world. In order to have them be prepared for the future, they need experience with money and finances. It is important for them to get this experience now so they can be knowledgeable when they have careers or attend college.
My students come from low income homes and do not have much experience with money.
My school is a title I school in Brooklyn and my students love to come to school. They get free breakfast and lunch and all have great school attendance. They are students who work well together in groups and love to be engaged in the classroom. They are sponges and I can't wait to work with them using money games!
My Project
I am requesting several Math games such as spending money, and shopping with money to expand my students' knowledge in finance. I hope to give my students the full experience of what it might be like if they are faced in a real world situation. Using poster board, student ids, brushes, and paints, students will be engaged in creating their own "store" with prices and money equivalent to local store circulars. With groups they will be able to go on pretend shopping trips given an allowance. In addition to classroom shopping trips, students will have the chance to play board games with their peers. Students will also be given specific amounts of fake money to hold in their id badges and will have opportunities to buy things at the prize store.
This project is so important because it will help my students learn all about the economic world and how to better manage their finances in the future.
Working with peers is always beneficial to third graders and will help improve their money experiences!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
