My students need books, snacks and games to learn about financial literacy. They will earn "money" as a reward for making positive choices. They also need ink to print out their work.
My students come from a large and diverse K through 8 high poverty school in a high crime area of Philadelphia which receives Title I funding. A full 100% of my students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch. They are future scientists, authors, engineers, artists, and computer programmers.
My incredible students are in kindergarten, first and second grade.
They are excited about learning and want to excel in school. Many of my English Language Learners struggle with daily learning. They come from diverse backgrounds with a variety of needs. Some have physical needs while others have autism, ADD, or ADHD. Still others face emotional challenges, but all of the children have the same desire to learn.
My Project
Students will have the opportunity to earn "classroom money" when they make good choices.
My students will work as a collaborative team to practice and learn about financial literacy concepts.
They will practice adding and subtracting. The resources I am hoping to receive will allow my students a variety of prizes and food to purchase with the "classroom money" they earn using a positive reward system. The items requested include books, snacks and treats. The books will allow a more detailed look at the value of money. The ink will allow each student the opportunity to print out their very own positive reward list. Our goal is to create a positive atmosphere for all students and reward them immediately for making good choices.
