My Students
My students are amazing, marvelous and challenging on many levels. They come to school excited, eager to experience an exciting lesson. I often refer to them jokingly as “challenging customers” that refuse to accept second best. As I try my best to provide excellent customer service to my clientele, I find that it is never enough to just teach.
It is a journey to discover how best to serve every single one of my students and get them ready for college and for life and I am enjoying the ride.
Our school is a Title I school in Atlanta where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of our students are facing many socioeconomic challenges that hinder their academic success. As I observe them interact with one another, enthused in a lesson, I regain my conviction that a future is possible and achievable for all my students.
My Project
My students are enjoying learning more about money and finances. Students will receive "money" as payment at the end of each week based on their work. They will be able to use the money once a week to shop in the classroom store. Students will be able to decide how to spend their money and what portion will go into saving.
With your help, my students will be able to use their paycheck and manage their budget and learn more about finances in a real-life setting.
With your help, they are one step further in learning more about their money; the one in their pocket today and the one they will earn tomorrow.
