Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My goal is to help my students, many of whom have diverse special needs, develop financial literacy skills. After we cover the basics of earning, investing, and saving, the students will have the chance to earn classroom money through various activities, such as performing their class jobs, attending school regularly, completing homework, showing acts of kindness, and exceeding academic expectations. They will have access to an online classroom bank, where they can deposit and withdraw their play money.
We will also set up a classroom store stocked with snacks, treats, school supplies, and colored paper based on student requests.
Each week, students will take turns managing the store while their peers shop with the money they've earned. This system will allow students to use their earnings to buy or invest in items like basic supplies and requested treats. By managing their online bank accounts and keeping a financial journal with printed data, students will enhance their financial literacy and math skills.
