This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first graders are amazing and ready to learn. I want them to have as many positive experiences as possible. They attend a Title I school in our city. Our school serves preschool to fifth grade students. My students are thinkers, leaders, and change-makers. 99% of our students qualify for the federal lunch program. My students come from hardworking families who support their education.
My students are 24 wonderful first grade students who are learning foundational skills and are very motivated.
They love to be read to and are excited to learn everything they can. They are curious about the world around them, and I want them to thrive.
My Project
Financial Literacy requires hands-on activities for my students. I want my students to pretend to manipulate money. At their age, they do not have the opportunity to use money. They need to learn to apply the skills they learn in mathematics to real-world situations.
I'm asking for Smiley Face Stickers, Stress Balls Puffer Stress Relief Toys, Party Bubbles for Kids, Assorted Giant Activity Dice, Sticky Notes 3x3 inch, Dry Erase Pockets, and Number Floor Puzzle.
The laminating pouches and dry erase pockets will be used to practice math skills and to laminate money centers for durability.
I want my students to use pretend money to make financial decisions because it is a great way to learn about money.
I want my students to have discussions in the classroom about using money wisely. I want them to learn that they have to earn and save money. Please help me provide these useful life-long lessons by giving them a chance to earn coins in the class and then buy goods with their earnings.
By providing hands-on tools that will not only help students learn about financial literacy, but help them make good money choices when they have to save in order to buy something they really want!
