My students are involved in community projects and are always thinking about what else they can do to help make our world a better place.
Studies have proven that hands-on activities and project-based learning results in students who excel! We often discuss current events/local issues and my students love coming up with solutions to problems. They are excited and most engaged when creating and collaborating to achieve a common goal. They have devised a solution to help preserve the habitat of the Snowy Plover, a federally endangered bird. They presented their ideas to the local environmental commission and were even on the local news! How encouraging and inspiring this experience was for my students! They realized that they do have a voice and can make an impact, no matter their age! With the implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core, our students are experiencing an enhanced education these days!
These standards are critical for developing a thorough understanding of how our world functions. This applies real-world concepts right in our classroom!
My Project

I would like to teach my students financial literacy skills by developing an entrepreneurial project with our classroom economy that is cross-curricular and blends in career readiness standards.
Using the Silhouette Cameo, students can also enhance projects that are both professional-looking and creative. The machine will allow them to create presentations that are full of information and that showcase their knowledge. It will give my students a way to present and honor their creativity in our classroom environment and throughout our school.
