My students need the opportunity to fulfill their dreams. My students live in a small bayside community that was severely impacted by Hurricane Sandy several years ago. Some houses in our community are just being fixed now and others are still waiting. I teach in a low-income school district which means many of my families work very hard to provide for their families with many of them working more than one job.

My students are the best thing about my job. They are creative, lively and eager to explore our world. I look forward to seeing each of their bright, sunny faces every day.
My Project
People say money is the root of all evil. For my students, it helps them learn about saving, buying and commerce. I am asking for registers and play money for our class store in our house dramatic play area so that my students can role play for something they see grown ups do every day. These materials will replace our broken one and give them a way to hands-on think about the cost of everyday items. I am requesting food for the children to pretend to purchase as well as dice to create a game using the pretend money. In addition, I am asking for a money game to help introduce my older students to kindergarten concepts.

I am also requesting materials to teach my students the concept of earning something. With rewards, my students can earn money to pick a prize or even play for a prize in the the toy crane. These materials will help my students learn about money in the most appropriate way for preschoolers -.through their play.
