This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Last year, I introduced money to my students. For many of them it was challenging. I realized there was so confusion about the value of money and how credit cards work. When learning about money, manipulatives were essential in helping my students investigate the difference between the coins and work towards understanding each coins value. The manipulative kits in this project, as well as the larger manipulatives I can use with our magnetic board to display the coins and learn together.

Financial literacy should be taught to our youngest learners to ensure that they are equipped with knowledge and skills needed to manage money.

It is NEVER to early to start saving, planning, and managing money. Even if it is just an allowance at first. My goal this year would be to set each student up with a bank account that they can put money into and start managing. It has been proven that students who learn about financial literacy early in life are more confident with managing money long term.

The games will help reinforce the concepts being explored and making learning money fun! I can't wait to get my students excited about learning about money.
