Financial Literacy on the Move in Pre-K!

Help me give my students Financial Literacy and storage space creating an exploration station wth the view masters for science and discovery.

My Project

To teach financial literacy skills to my young students, I must help them build a solid math foundation. I am requesting a Computer Desk with Storage and a cash register. This will be used to set up the station so my students can role-play selling items at the store with their supermarket materials. As they take turns and rotate the different centers, they will increase their vocabulary and independence. They will use their writing journals to write about the findings in the science center with a view of the masters of insects and oceans.

My students learn best hands-on, through interactive games and movement.

As my students will be able to create an environment of buying and selling goods in the store, to keep their interest in learning and continuing to count above and beyond the minimum requirements in the classroom.

The Pencil sharpener will be used to sharpen their pencils as they write their name and add basic numbers. My students will have access to these materials independently. These math and dramatic play centers will have activities that will motivate and excite my little learners as they are reading the prices in stores, and as they are attempting to purchase materials. Reinforcing their counting and transaction skills in daily, everyday living. The math activities will reinforce pre-reading skills that foster number recognition and object counting, all while engaging my students through play.

My 4 and 5-year-old students will use the games and activities on a daily basis during whole-group and small-group instruction.
