Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hard-working, creative, highly motivated, and diverse groups of learners. They come to school ready to learn, and I want to give them a safe, happy, and productive classroom.
I teach at a Title I school in Houston where ninety percent of the students receive free lunch.
Some of the students in my school participate in the Backpack Buddy program. My students are third grade, English Language Learners. My students are eager to learn and do their best to make their parents, teachers, and school proud.
My Project
In my Third-Grade classroom we use classroom economy to learn about finances and improve student behavior. One of the most important parts of the classroom economy is the spending part! As soon as my students began to earn money, they began to ask me how they can spend it. I have a classroom store in my classroom with a variety of rewards, snacks, and classroom supplies. The prizes have different prices depending on scarcity, supply and demand, etc. Help my students have incentives to learn about financial literacy and inspire exemplary behavior.
