This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are creative, compassionate and full of questions! They love hands-on, engaging projects that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions. They come to school each day eager to try new things and take chances in order to grow both personally and academically.
My awesome third grade students absolutely love learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.
In class, we use many different learning strategies, group work, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are. They are truly an awesome kids, and I am lucky to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year. These are wonderful, young ladies and gentlemen with a thirst for knowledge, and my mission is to ensure that they can rise above their current circumstances to find success.
My Project
During the year, my students will take part in a real-world financial literacy unit. They will earn classroom money for doing things such as their classroom job, coming to school, doing their homework, and going over and beyond. They will have access to the classroom online bank and be given time to deposit and withdraw money from their accounts. During this unit, students will be building their knowledge of financial literacy and strengthening their math skills.
My students need various items to purchase with their classroom currency including engaging math activities, yummy treats, and cool treasure chest selections.
Having a variety of selections available to purchase keeps the students motivated to earn classroom currency throughout the day.
It is my hope that through this hands-on financial literacy unit, my students will learn the importance of earning and saving money and making financial decisions.
