This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a high poverty area and many times may not have access to many of the valuable materials I am asking for.
My students are enthusiastic learners who are eager to learn.
They are first graders who are excited about learning new things in my classroom. First grade is such an important year in which students are exposed to so many new concepts, such as reading, counting and adding money, writing a paragraph, etc.
My Project
I'm requesting valuable materials I feel are important for the academic growth of my students. I feel they are all connected in order for my students to learn about the world and obtain financial literacy. I am requesting hot dot pens to use in a small group with my students during math along with various question cards that will help them with word problems, money, and phonics. The subtraction, telling time, and addition quiz cards, 3 in a row games, and self-checking match-up games are for my students to learn various math concepts in a fun and exciting way, while learning about cooperation and sharing with their classmates. The beanbags and soft seats are for my students to enjoy reading at the library in a comfortable way. The Reading and Writing Journals are for them to keep track of their reading/writing growth. The sight word and sound games are to help them as emerging readers. Copy paper, pens, bookstand, and magnetic bins, folders are to keep our materials organized.
My project is so important because it requests so many valuable materials for math and reading.
In addition to the above materials I am also requesting some art materials such as felt and paint. Due to budget cuts, art is something that has been left out of many classrooms. In addition to the classroom supplies and fun and exciting games, I also need the fadeless paper to give my students a beautiful and attractive place they will enjoy coming to this school year!
