This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love using Montessori toys that teach students to sort, stack, and identify colors and shapes. I think having some of these toys that incorporate distinguishing coins and bills will also help students with their financial literacy. A clear piggy bank will help students get excited about "saving" their money and can serve as the talking piece during our morning meetings. We can use the coin sorter to wrap the different coins. Some of these toys can be placed in the math center for students to interact with during their free choice center time.
They can grow familiar with money on their own terms with their own curiosity and questions while they play with their peers.
