This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I have been an educator for 16 years and I don't think I've worked with a more wonderful group of fourth and fifth grade students in all my years. While my students come from critical home environments, they report to school daily with smiles on their faces; ready to learn.

My students are full of life and yearn to be their best selves!

Their thirst for learning is evident and I feel that they will grow emotionally and academically this school year.

My Project

Financial literacy is survival skill that many of my students don't and won't have the privilege of receiving at home. Many of my students are living in situations where money is sparse or parents don't have the knowledge/ability to set good saving and spending examples. The Dave Ramsey financial books and games will be beneficial to the whole class!

I want my students to understand how money works and to learn the benefits and consequences that are associated with having a positive or negative relationship with money!

I am requesting of several of Dave Ramsey's financial resources to make sure that I am well informed prior to engaging students in activities and discussions surrounding spending and saving. I have also included several picture books, games and budgeting resources that will help provided financial literacy at a level and in a manner that students can understand.

These resources will not only help my students successfully address the economics standards found in their social studies curriculum, but it will also provide them skills and knowledge that they will be able to use throughout their lives.
