This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 2nd graders from low-income area that are eager to learn. Many of them are below grade level in math. However, my students enjoy using technology. The Apple iPad activities and apps will give students a better idea of comprehending everyday money related concepts.

My students are second graders from a high poverty area in Northern California.

They are sweet, kind, respectful, and in need of building their economic knowledge through technology. Our school is 100% free lunch program school. Many of my kids do not have computers in their homes, so their only exposure to the Internet is in our classroom.

My Project

My students need an Apple iPad to help them learn about financial literacy and responsibility. Teaching students financial skills now can help them spend wisely, save more and make good financial choices in the future. With an iPad, my students could access apps that offer economic lessons and games about money management: Save The Game, Finance for Kidz, Smarty Pig, Slice of Life, Allowance: Your Pocket Money, P2K Money, Saving Spree, and Kids Money. My students are at a critical developmental stage to better learn about financial responsibilities. During these years, they form habits on saving and spending that can last well into the future. It is essential that adults are actively involved in helping children learn about financial matters. I believe that by preparing my students for the future through financial literacy they will be far more prepared to intelligently spend and invest their future financial earnings.
