Financial Literacy Comes to Life With Our Class Store

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Each year, I kick off the school year by building a classroom economy that helps students learn real-life financial literacy skills in a fun and meaningful way. From applying for classroom jobs to earning digital money and shopping at our class store, my students experience what it’s like to manage income, save, and spend wisely.
For the new 2025–2026 school year, I’m requesting items to help stock our class store with exciting rewards like snacks, drinks, squishy toys, desk pets, gel pens, and more.
Items like Kool-Aid Jammers, Airheads, Famous Amos cookies, Galaxy Putty, and Mochi Squishies motivate students to set goals, budget their classroom earnings, and make thoughtful choices.
We use an online site called ClassBank for all of our classroom financial transactions. This tool makes it easy for students to track their balances, receive paychecks, and make purchases during our store days. It gives them a real sense of ownership and responsibility.
My students are creative, energetic, and eager to take on responsibility. They get so excited when it’s payday and even more when it’s time to “shop.” With your support, we can start the year strong and keep our classroom economy running smoothly, turning valuable life lessons into experiences they’ll always remember.
