Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are loving children who all come from different backgrounds. They are hardworking, funny, talkative, and all around a great group of 11 and 12-year-olds that make my day.
What makes my students so special is that we come together as one with one goal in mind and that is to learn math.
Our middle school is the largest in the state with around 1800 students in 6-8 all on one campus.
My goal is to help them learn and develop math skills that are essential for everyday life.
My Project
Throughout the year I speak to my students about money. I mostly compare every concept to money because it is something that the students can relate to. For example fractions, percents and decimals etc. In addition to that my students need to be exposed to financial responsibility.
My students need financial literacy books to learn how to manage, budget and learn about the finance world for their future years.
Some students don't get the opportunity to learn any financial responsibility before leaving high school. We teach financial literally for about 1 week every year, but I would love to have books so the students can read throughout the year.
