Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school has a Positive Behavior and Intervention Support (PBIS) Store that we call Dolphin Treasure Cove. The store is visited by every student once a week. Students are able to spend their Dolphin Dollars that they earn for citizenship in our school store.

Through the use of the school store, we are promoting financial literacy and goal setting.

We allow students to enter the store and determine which item they would like to save up for. Items are organized by price with the lowest priced items at the bottom of the shelves and increasing in price as they are placed on higher shelves. All items are marked from $1 - $25 Dolphin Dollars (not real currency).

Students are allowed to visit the store one time per week and can only purchase one item per week. This also allows students to set priorities. We discuss the importance of setting goals and saving with the students as well.
