Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are energetic, eager to learn, and hard working. They are attending a pre-kinder to fifth grade Title I school in Los Angeles. Our school strives to nurture our students into becoming thinkers, leaders, and change makers. We have recently embarked in a journey of becoming a "Leader in Me" school. It is very exciting for my students to rise to the expectations of becoming a LEADER!
My students come from low income homes where their parents have to work hard to meet their needs.
Some of my students have to stay in school until six in the evening because their parents cannot come for them until they are out of work. Nonetheless, my students are ready learn and strive to do their best every day. My expectations for my students are being met each and every day.
My Project
Financial literacy is a concept students need to be exposed to as soon as possible. Students need to learn how to use the mathematics they are learning and transfer their learning to real life situations like learning to manage money. We will be working on a Financial literacy unit to solve real world problems.
I'm asking for a monitor and drawing tablet.
The monitor attaches to a laptop and will enable me to share and present materials with all my 35 students via zoom on one monitor, while also keeping an eye on the chat room and student responses in the other. With this monitor, I will be able to present information more efficiently and respond faster to students as we continue with distance learning.
Distance learning is a challenge when you don't have the technology you need. The drawing tablet will enable me to use real money to deliver instruction. It will allow my students to see anchor charts, and learning tools clearly during Zoom meetings.
