My Project
The Financial 101 project is an initiative to educate students in my math class about the important role math plays in our financial well-being in today's world. I have incorporated our daily mathematical lessons around day-to-day financial needs, enabling me to teach students math, while learning about finance.
My goal is to guide my special needs students to know the functions of money, bank accounts, savings accounts, and credit cards, and how to manage funds for when they start working.
Teaching these students has been a great joy over the last 4 years, However, the community I serve is low-income, and parents do not always have the time to teach their children these basic skills, because they are working two to three jobs to provide for their families. It is my deepest wish, to give these students these important skills and lessons to be successful in their future after high school.
