This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a small and amazing, public school on the Central Coast of California. I am a fifth grade teacher and this will be my twenty-third year of teaching here. I have seen our little school change and grow in many dynamic ways.
Our students come from a variety of backgrounds which make up our wonderful school family.
Our fourth and fifth graders are part of a program within our school called the, "All Are Scholars Academy". Our students are exposed to a variety of subjects including, but not limited to, world languages, gardening, STEAM projects, coding, sewing, cooking, band, drama and art. With the support of administration, the fourth and fifth grade teaching team creates these offerings which we feel help to make our students more well-rounded and prepared as positive, contributing citizens to our society and world.
My Project
The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go and, even better, they have already been paid for. I had two gift codes that I wasn't able to use on my last project, so I will be using them now.
The area rugs on my list will be used so that my students will have many options as to where to work comfortably.
Thank you for making my dream a reality. I can't wait to share photos of our completed classroom with flexible seating and comfy area rugs.
