This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from every corner of the world. My students are all English Language Learners (ELLs), and are a microcosm of Queens: they speak over a dozen languages and come from more than 20 countries. My students love being in school, which is what made this past year of remote learning so hard.
What made our school dangerous to occupy is still with us - despite vaccines, COVID-19 is still around, and the pandemic is not over.
My students and their families take the risk everyday being in school, so it is paramount that I do my best to keep them safe.
My Project
Thanks to our DonorsChoose community, we have a high capacity air purifier that supplements the meager air flow we get through our windows. However, the filters in the purifier need to be replaced periodically so it can continue operating at peak efficiency.
Please help us maintain healthier air flow with a set of replacement filters.
Greater air flow will lead to less potential for COVID-19 and other airborne contagions and dust to spread. My students and I want to and need to be in school. We can continue doing so as long as we are able to control the spread of COVID-19 and stay healthy. Please help us maintain a healthier classroom and donate replacement filters!
