This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Each one of my students brings a unique set of skills, values, needs, experiences, and challenges to our classroom. Despite the many differences they have, they all seem to share a common enthusiasm for school and learning.

I teach at a Title I school in Salt Lake City, Utah, where 85% of our students receive free or reduced lunch.

Our students come from places all over the world, and many of them are English learners.

Though my students are faced daily with the many challenges that come with living in poverty, they come to school with an eagerness to learn and an attitude that shows they have a great deal of resiliency and perseverance.

My Project

Having two iPads and three Bower Trendy Series tripods to create short, informational films on science content will help my students develop a deeper understanding of the science curriculum.

After explicit training, students will research, write, film, direct, edit, and produce short, informational films about various science topics throughout the school year.

Not only will they benefit from learning about content in a creative way, they will also become media savvy though the use of the iPads, accessories, and the different movie making apps. They will also benefit from the collaborative process of working with other students to create finished products.
