My students come to school in search of structure, support, and loving guidance. I work with students who have been diagnosed with autism or an emotional disturbance. These students thrive when they have outlets for their anxieties, frustrations, and anger. It's my goal to make my room a safe place for them to work through these anxieties, frustrations, and anger. A place where we can create and carry out positive solutions.
It's my hope to build my students' toolboxes with tools to help them function successfully throughout their school day.
My Project
Imagine going to school and facing a mountain of academics when you feel overwhelmed, confused, anxious, frustrated, or angry. It's difficult to cope and focus on work with all these emotions weighing you down.What you need is a toolbox of coping strategies!
Arming my students with a Coping Toolbox will allow them to achieve success in their classrooms like they have never experienced before!
I work with students who have been diagnosed with autism or an emotional disturbance disorder. These students struggle to stay on task or react to stressful situations in appropriate ways.
It's my goal to help my students be successful in their classes by arming them with a Coping Toolbox. These toolboxes would include materials to help them focus, complete work, and handle stressful situations effectively. My students would benefit from the noise canceling headphones and workstation privacy folders to block out disruptions and focus on the task at hand. The Bouncy Bands, Balance Disks, and Fidget Toys will help the students release fidget energy while attending to their tasks. Many of my students struggle with writing. The awesome pencils, pencil grips, and paper will help these students find success with written assignments they can be proud of.
Please help me supply the tools my students need to overcome their disabilities and find success.
