I am a seventh and sixth grade language and literature teacher for over 125 students at an international baccalaureate middle school. Our international school provides an excellent education to a diverse population. Within our classroom community, my students have a deeply developed love for reading. One area that could use support would be book choices. Our students need book choices that create mirrors and windows; Mirror stories reflect their own lives, while window stories offer a glimpse of someone else's experience.
Your donation would positively impact my students by providing high interest books.
As an educator, I believe that building student autonomy is essential. In my classroom, that begins with book choice. I would like to provide my readers with a diverse range of novels to engage, excite, and expand their thinking. With your help, I can continue to build my classroom library.
I would like to fill my classroom with books that leave a lasting impact on readers.
Donors Choose has created an opportunity in the first week of March to #filleveryshelf; I would like to use that opportunity to continue my mission of helping every student that enters my classroom to see themselves as a reader.
