I consider myself very lucky to spend my days at school sharing my love of reading with all of my students. We read books together that are funny, exciting, sad, powerful, inspiring, informative and thought-provoking.
We have returned to in-person learning this year after a challening year of being completely online.
This year the students are incredibly excited to be able to visit the school library in person and be able to check out books on a weekly basis to bring home and share with their families.
My Project
My students need books, books and more books to help increase their literacy skills. The books requested are intended to captivate, engage and energize my students. I want to show them the positive impact that books can have on you, including making you laugh out loud even if you are having a difficult day. These books will be showcased throughout my media classes as we learn about the different authors and illustrators. We will compare and contrast the different styles of both the writing and the pictures and discuss what makes these books so appealing to us.
The biggest impact these books will have is that they will be housed in our library's collection and available to all of the students for circulation.
Because the majority of our students speak a language other than English at home, many times the books brought home are shared with the entire family and used as a teaching tool for everyone.
