My Project
I teach math to an incredible group of 7th students who are very special to me. My students have different learning styles and use different approaches to model and solve math problems. They love to show what they can do and walk each other through how they modeled or solved a math problem. Currently, students in my classroom can only demonstrate solving math problems themselves by going in front of all students in the class and writing on the Promethean board, but this makes many students nervous and uncomfortable.
An Apple Pencil in conjunction with the iPad from a previous Donor Choose grant would enable both my students and I to model math concepts and solve problems from any place in the classroom.
The addition of the Apple pencil would have many functions that would increase engagement and learning in our classroom. I could use this technology from anywhere in the room to keep students on task while still being able to write on the board. The iPad and pencil can be used as a mobile document camera to display student work. Instructional videos can be recorded for small group rotations and to be uploaded to Google Classroom for students that missed a lesson. I believe the possibilities of assisting all learning styles are endless with the addition of this technology.
