I work in a low income district at a very small school. We only have about 250 students. I am a teacher assistant and I work with first graders. I have a genuine love for these children that have so little, but can learn so much. It gives me the greatest joy to watch them as they learn new things. One thing though, our school does not have a music or art teacher and I believe that our children miss out on a lot of great learning opportunities that can be taught through music and art. I also believe that children do better with their academics when they are exposed to music. The reason I am writing this proposal is because our class needs a CD/cassette player as well as children's CDs and cassettes. In particular I would like to have CDs and cassettes geared toward learning math and phonics. It is extremely important to do everything we can to ensure that our students learn everything they are able to. Learning through music encourages more involvement and promotes a fun and exciting way for our kids to be the best they can be.
