This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my classroom are sixth graders who love to read and get excited about books. Each book we dive into has the potential to impact our world and expand our thinking. We are a close-knit community of learners and thrive on getting to know and understand the world we live in through a wide variety of texts. We are learning a lot by studying the characters in our stories, and truly enjoy becoming lost in a book by experiencing life through each character's eyes.

My Project

The heart of our class is our classroom library. J.K. Rowling once said, "If you don't like to read, you haven't found the right book." I believe that is the case for many of our frustrated or reluctant readers, and so my aim is to fill our classroom library with an incredible variety of novels that have diverse characters dealing with a wide range of topics and issues. I want to help every reader feel successful by providing books on multiple reading levels. If we can "fill up" our library, I truly believe that every student will be able to identify as a Reader!
