In 7th-grade math, our focus this year is on incorporating financial literacy into our curriculum, by utilizing our Classroom Economy program, "ClassEquity." Students will apply for classroom jobs by filling out an "application" and will earn classroom money in their online bank account. This program aims to teach life skills in math and financial literacy. Students will have to balance their accounts daily, pay "rent" for their desk week, and save their money to spend in the class store.
Students have a difficult time with organization and this project will help them organize their assignments with a student number system using a crate and file folder center.
Each of my three classes will have a crate and each class will have colored folders that match their class (blue, green, and orange.) Each student will have a student number and they will turn in all of their papers to their folder, take out graded work that has feedback on it, and refer back to older assignments for review. With this in place, students will have less of a chance to lose work, misplace ungraded work, and will be helped with organization.
