This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have been working so hard and have been so empathetic to others. I would like my students to take charge of their learning as well as learning to help others in our school community.
My students will help out at our food pantry.
They will make signs and I will display it around the school. They will make cards to pass out to classroom teachers so they can talk about the food pantry that the students will be in charge of. We plan to use the wagon to fill with the food snacks and take to the food pantry.
They will stack items such as cookies, crackers, fruit roll-ups, and juice. They will take turns passing out the items to the students who need the food at their recess. We are going to create a small pantry where we can welcome students to grab a quick snack to curb their hunger. My students will be able to sign up daily to take care of the pantry and restock when necessary. My class wants to help out the school community first before helping out the neighboring community. If our project is successful, we hope to branch out to the neighborhood.
