Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students are launching a school-wide snack bar to ensure that every student has access to a snack each day if they need it. We recognize that many students face challenges that can impact their ability to focus and learn, including hunger. With this initiative, we want to create a welcoming space where students can grab a healthy snack during the school day, providing them with the fuel they need to succeed academically and stay focused in class. This snack bar will be restocked regularly by students as part of their community service, who will request resources from local supermarkets and businesses, creating an opportunity for them to engage with their community while giving back to their peers.
To get this project started, we are requesting donations for a few key items to help us establish a functional and sustainable snack bar.
These items include a Keurig coffee maker, which will allow students to enjoy warm beverages throughout the day, especially on colder mornings. We are also requesting an organizer for snacks and utensils, ensuring that the snack bar area remains tidy, accessible, and efficient. Finally, we are requesting a variety of snacks to start stocking the pantry. These snacks will include nutritious options that support students’ focus and overall well-being.
This snack bar will be run by students with teacher guidance, providing them with valuable skills in organization, responsibility, and teamwork as part of their community service. It will serve as a resource for the entire school community, promoting a sense of unity and care among students.
