I need assistance with literacy and children's conference registration fees.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
Our school serves students in Grades K-8. This fall, I will be the 3rd Grade Reading/English Language Arts teacher for three classes totaling approximately 84 students from diverse ethnic backgrounds! I will also teach intervention group for students who are reading below their grade level. Third grade is a critical year for academic growth, as laws are currently in place that require intensive literacy support for students who do not perform at grade level on high-stakes State assessments. To ensure my students learn and perform well during testing season, I am creating a classroom focused on the latest strategies in digital literacy and vocabulary development.
We are a public charter school which receives Title I funding, with 87% of our students coming from low-income households and eligible for Free and Reduced Price lunches (FRL).
I am committed to being the most effective teacher I can be for children who live in low-income communities and I am ready to experience a higher level in my professional development as an educator.
This summer, I plan to attend two education conferences–the Children's Defense Fund Proctor Institute for Child Advocacy Ministry and the International Literacy Association annual meeting–that will equip me with strategies for ending child poverty in my school's community and increasing classroom literacy.
Both conferences are unique in content and are renowned for providing quality advocacy and literacy training for teachers. Your support will help me with paying the cost of registration fees, as I will pay for travel myself.
