Fighting AI with books!

Help me give my students a traditional path to learning. In our school of 1800 students, these will be reused for years by teachers. With everything being computer based and AI at their fingertips, paper is a must.

My Project

Over the years that I have been teaching, I have asked my students which would they prefer. "computer or paper?" To my suprise, the response is always unanimous: paper!

Kids have been on the computer enough to where they look forward to actually looking at anything else.

Computer assignments can be copied, shared, and answered with AI. Even though AI is not entirely bad, it is hindering my students learning and critical thinking. With books infront of them, they are less inclined to pull out their phones, they are more engaged as we discuss whats on the page, and best of all, AI cannot do their work for them. Instead of pulling up videos and throwing in a few followup assignments on canvas, we write, engage, discuss, even debate on the topic.

My high school has 1800 students, and Earth Science is a required course in my state. I have a few of each text book so that I can share them with my colleagues for years to come. The resources in these textbooks will reach hundreds of students in just a single year. Help me help my school get back to paper and away from computers!
