This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a Title I, inner-city public school. My school serves 930 students. Our school is very diverse and we have many bilingual and international students. Our neighborhood is also very diverse, and all of our students live within the neighborhood. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students and school need support and resources to continue our successes.

Our fifth grade kiddos will need 30 copies of each core text for at home literacy learning.

My Project

We will be starting the year virtually, and each student should have the opportunity to have the core book, Thunder Rolling in the Mountains, from the first module. Having this text will provide students the ability to read, and re-read with their teacher. Virtual learning can be challenging enough, and this small gesture, to receive the book their teacher is reading can be enough to set our young minds on the right path.

Our students need to be inspired and motivated to learn and love to read and explore the topics and content in the curriculum.
